We are Triple Tree Kennels.

A life well spent is a life with a dog.

But every dog, like every family member, comes with its own set of challenges and preferences. That’s why at Triple Tree Kennels we prioritize providing a safe, clean environment and specialized care and attention that your dog won’t get anywhere else.

As a fully licensed and insured training kennel located in central Pennsylvania, we offer a variety of services:

Our gun dog and tracking programs are where our passion truly lies. They are the first public training programs of their kind in the Lock Haven and surrounding areas and were created for individuals that are looking for a driven and enthusiastic companion hunting dog.

Meet the Hanleys!

  • Owner and Head Trainer

Sam is the founder and head trainer of Triple Tree Kennels. She has a background in pet care that began in high school as an in-home pet sitter then transitioned to a kennel attendant and groomer at a local boarding kennel. There, she discovered how deeply she loved caring for dogs.

It wasn’t until her and her husband got their chocolate lab, Maze, that she fell in love with training. They purchased Maze with the intention of turning her into their family gun dog. She and her husband are avid hunters and wanted a dog to track wounded game and flush and retrieve upland birds and waterfowl. While training her, Sam found her true passion and thus, Triple Tree Kennels was born.

  • Assistant Trainer

Brandon has a full-time job but assists in the evenings and weekends with general care and training. He often sets up the mock tracks and is the shooter when working bird dogs.

As an avid whitetail hunter, Brandon wanted a dog to track his wounded game. Their chocolate lab, Maze, picked up the training very quickly and truly loves to work a blood trail. These two have become quite the team, tracking wounded game for hunters all over the state, and even a few out of state. When they're not hot on a trail, you can catch them working the fields in search of pheasants or cuddling on the couch.

  • Maze is the Hanley’s chocolate Lab. She is a phenomenal tracking dog and has recovered countless whitetails for not only them, but hunters across the state of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. This girl loves to work a blood trail; however, she is equally as happy to flush and retrieve upland birds. The sound of the gun gets her fired up! She is also in training to work waterfowl.

As much as she loves to hunt, she has a great off switch in the home. She loves to cuddle on the couch or burrow under pillows and take a good nap.

Maze is very good and polite around other dogs, so she often helps socialize dogs and train for neutrality.

  • Lena is the family Bernese Mountain Dog. They rescued her from the local SPCA in 2021 where they were told she was 10 years old.

Sam was nervous as she had lost her first Berner six months prior but deiced to give it a try. They brought Lena home for a trial run and the moment Lena climbed onto Sam’s lap, she knew she couldn’t let her go back to the shelter.

She had some resource guarding issues that Sam and Brandon worked through and now her and Maze get along great.

She may be 10, but she sure doesn’t act it. She can be pretty spunky but is typically content to lounge around all day.

Lena also helps socialize client dogs.
